Ever feel like you are literally DROWNING in cornets and trumpets? No? Then you are not me. I need to get rid of the under-played instruments from my basement. Some of them are great, as I’ll be the first to tell you. Some are not great, and I’ll tell you that too. All of them looked interesting to me at some point. Maybe they’ll be interesting for you too. This is a ROTH trumpet, from 1959. It has a Reynolds-stamped valve block, even though Foster Reynolds was long-gone from the company at that point (he was at Olds, where he would die a couple years hence after an argument. Reynolds and Olds the companies would later more or less merge, until both shut down in 1979). The lacquer is in bad shape, but there aren’t many dents, none large. 3 out of four tuning slides (main, #2 and #3) don’t move, but all valves do, and it plays as is. Should be a quick fixer upper. The other, fully functional Roth I have is definitely a player's horn-- better than you expect, very solidly made. Low start bid of TWENTY NINE DAMN U.S. DOLLARS. Shipping is a flat FORTY BUCKS in the CONUS if you want the wacky home-made case— it’s 1/2” plywood, coated in Formica, weighs a ton, and can beat up any other case it meets. Or, EIGHTEEN BUCKS without the case, packed Elden Benge-style in a box full of newspaper or similar crumpled cushioning.
THE FINE PRINT: NO RETURNS, this is old stuff here and is described as best as I can make it and take it (photos, that is). AK, HI PR buyers please wait for my invoice, as shipping will be higher. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING, as far as I am concerned. Your use of sketchy drop-box re-shippers is AYOR and your business, not mine. No bidders with less than 10 positive feedback. Payment is due within 48 hours, please— this isn’t food or shelter, it’s to be purchased with money you have when you place your bid.
