Handmade Vintage 70's Surfer Puka Shell Necklace
Weight:  19 grams
Length :   13"inches long approx
MM size:  largest puka is approx 7-8mm and gradually get smaller
Condition is good.  see all photos.  clasp is in good working order.  this necklace does
have some nylon cord showing, it is not fully filled with puka shells.
This is a handmade authentic puka shell necklace that I made in the mid 70's on Oahu, Hawaii.
The beach that I found these puka shells was a very private beach on the North Shore up about
2 miles from the Old Kuilima Hotel (now called Turtle Bay Resort)
There was a beautiful cove that would bring in these tops of old cone shells.. tumbling tumbling from the rough surf onto the beach.  .  .  thus the Puka shell.
Many beautiful days I spent on that beach collecting these shells.  Driving up the Kamehameha Highway
to the North Shore  with my little stick shift blue volkswagen bug ......always with a good hawaiian friend.
Memories gone past.  I paid for my college tuition at the University of Hawaii with these
Puka shell necklaces that were sold on the North Shore.  This is the last of what I made many moons ago.

an indentation like a cove right below the thumb coastline.. that is the cove where I would find these
