I used to compare many horns to each other for playability. I learned a lot by doing this both about myself and about horns.

For your consideration vintage Martin Committee deluxe Bb Trumpet model. This one is from late 1940s/early1950s period #17xxxx which puts it to the best era these horns were made and played by many jazz masters. The earlier ones had no DELUXE word stamped on the receiver. Horn is all original and not really played a lot. It was mostly stored for many years and got a bit tarnished by that. As it was stated in Martin booklets I’ve seen Martin called their lacquer “Martinamel” and did not give warranty on the lacquer. They simply said that lacquer may age, peel with age and playing. From what I’ve seen all Martin trumpets age differently depends on where horn was played , by who , how long and how was stored etc... This one is a really great player Medium bore but you won’t feel horn it’s medium while you play. It plays great like Committee should. Horn has tarnished dots around and some wear around the finish. It’s adds to the vintage jazzy charm if you are into a bit worn horns just like I am.  See photos ! If you are looking from more far away everything blends together finish wise and horn looks close to full lacquer . I only see which I just noticed bottom bow brace was reinforced which is hard to see as on the bottom. Don’t see any repairs on bell flare and it has 4.75” in size from edge to edge as the sound comes out . There are no brass patches and valve pistons look mint and very clean with excellent compression. The slides are coming out. Smooth valves. 3rd slide has rubber bumpers for quiet movement. The ring and screw are not original but ring is a Martin duplicate and due to some wear already looks just like original. Screw holds it well. Don’t see dings or dents. AGAIN. PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS .
