Passive Serial/RS232 Port Monitor (line tap), Data Logger for Traffic Debugging

Description

This device is one of our professional tools. We use it for debugging/troubleshooting serial data between two devices such as RTUs, PCs, data loggers, etc.
This
device allows to tap onto Serial port data between Device #1 (say, a PC or printer) and Device #2 (another PC, RTU, or a data logger). It is specifically designed not to load the tapped lines so the voltage swings on the wire will remain unchanged thus not affecting the Device-to-Device communication distance. In a sense, this Monitor is fully 'transparent' from the communicating equipment's standpoint.
This Monitor 'reports' data sent by both Devices onto a single DB9 connector labeled "diag./monitor" on the top silkscreen of the PCB and "Monitor Device" on the Connection Guide. Thus, if you connect a PC to this "Monitor Device" port, then you will be viewing/logging bi-directional data making it extremely helpful for data pinging applications.
The Monitor is passive. It does not require a separate power source.
Additionally, it taps onto the transmit and receive lines of the monitored RS232 bus and passes through the rest of the handshaking signals. This design solution provides for an uninterrupted handshaking and flow-control exchanges among the monitored Devices.
