Gorham Sterling Silver Pedestal Bowl with Detailed Engraved Underwater Fish Motif Marked Sterling Made c1880 22.8oz
Presented is an impressive rare Gorham Centerpiece bowl with an excellent artful engraved decoration of an underwater scene of fish swimming with a great scalloped edge and peacock fan like peaks rising around the edge. It has a nice wide pedestal base with an engraved dedication of what I believe to be D.G.B with a date 1869 Aug. 29, 1894 and a later engraved calligraphic dedication on the opposite side of base of SMG Nov 20, 1948. This is a beautiful piece with no dents or dings and only some fine scratches from gentle use and care. It is perfect for floral arrangements or for serving your favorite dish.  It is an excellent piece for the collector of antique silver from dynamic and world renowned smiths and artist of their day.
