Beautiful 19thC FRENCH Macassar Ebony & Brass Stamp Box
Beautiful Macassar Ebony wood and brass stamp box made in France late 19thC. The exquisite wood is decorated with three different friezes of brass inlay surrounding a central reserve monogrammed ‘CA’. The interior has three compartments for stamps. The wood is excellent antique condition but for a 7/8” long hairline to the bottom, mentioned for completeness. The clasp mechanism is in working order but it does not closes tightly, the lid is not seated properly since it is slightly bent due to its age. It measures 3 long by 2 5/8” wide and 1 ¼” thick, weighs 82.8 grams.
