1960 Olds Special Trumpet
For sale is a very nice 1960 Olds Special trumpet which I bought from its original owner who played it in high school. The pics don't do this trumpet justice.
All of the spots and discoloration are from old stubborn original lacquer that hasn't come off yet. The old lacquer could easily be chemically removed.
The compression is very good, valves are fast and smooth. All of the slides move freely. Tri-color model with the copper bell flare. Plays great. A step up from the Ambassador model. It has a much more resonant sound. That is probably due to the nickel silver and copper bell, and also because the bell is not as heavily braced as the student model Ambassador. The trumpet has a couple of small dents where the tubing on the bell curves around before going into the casing for the first valve that could easily be removed.
Comes with a nice, solid case, but it's not an original Olds case. This case was probably purchased separately, and comes from a company in Elkhart Indiana.
Cases were optional when this trumpet was sold.
The trumpet also comes with the original Olds 3c mouthpiece.
